BOOK 2
In the evening, before I go to sleep, I receive telegrams from all over the world. Somewhere, a ship is sinking – I clear its way. At some other place, a young man is threatening his beloved, pointing a revolver at her, intending to kill her – I tell him that she loves him, and he gives up his intention. A student at a university is complaining that his professor will fail him at the exam – I tell the professor not to fail him, adding, “He is a good student, he will better his results.” After I have replied to all the telegrams, only then I fall asleep.
